I am Olena, a second-year PhD student in the Department of Biology at New York University. My fascination with insects, particularly ants, began during my undergraduate research on the development of smell receptors in the ant Harpegnathos saltator. Their complex societies and intricate communication systems captivated me and inspired my decision to pursue research at the PhD level. This passion continues to drive my journey in science, where I have focused on the intersections of molecular, developmental, and neurobiology research. Beyond the lab, I enjoy immersing myself in new experiences—whether through traveling, learning foreign languages, or exploring nature on long walks.
